Getting Around Addison

Addison, which is in Dallas County, is approximately 13 miles north of Dallas city center. It is served by the Dallas-Fort Worth Airport which is 16 miles northeast. DFW is the fourth busiest U.S. airport. Addison is also 11 miles from Love Field Airport which is served by five U.S. airlines. Charter and private planes can land at the Addison Airport, which is the 3rd largest of all U.S. general aviation airports.

In Dallas, all roads seem to lead to Addison. You can take Dallas Tollway South to Alpha Road/Galleria Road Exit. From Love Field, take the Dallas Tollway North. From DFW airport, take the DFW North exit to I-635 East. From downtown and points south, take I-45, I-35E or Hwy 67 to the Dallas North Tollway. From the north, take I35E South to I635 East. From the West, take I-20, I-30, Hway 183 or Hwy 114 to I35E North to I635 East.

If you are using public transportation, you can take the green or red line and transfer to a bus or take a taxi. There is no light rail into Addison itself. Dallas Area Rapid Transit buses serve Addison. For instance the DART 341 route, brings visitors closest to Cavanaugh Flight Museum, a major Addison attraction. To reach the museum, visitors should get off the bus at the Addison Road/Westgrove intersection, walk west ¼ mile to Claire Chennault, and then walk ¼ mile to the museum. You can transfer or catch buses at the Addison Transit Center.

If you want to go to the Galleria Mall, one of the main reasons that people visit Addison, you will find it off of Dallas Parkway which is accessible off of I-635 East or take the Alpha Road/Galleria Road Exit on the Dallas Tollway. The Galleria has 10,000 parking spaces. In addition, you can get valet parking at four different locations. These include the Saks Fifth Avenue/Nordstrom parking garage, the Grand Lux café and the main entrance's circle fountain drive. You can also get valet parking at the Westin International Hotel, which is attached to the Galleria. For limo or taxi service at the Galleria, you will want to go to the Westin as well.

Addison tourism brochures brag about the 140 restaurants that are in a 4 sq. mile radius. This makes many meals in walking distance from local hotels.
