Getting Around Bedford

Bedford is served by the Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport. DFW is the busiest airport in Texas and seventh in the world. American Airlines makes Fort Worth its home and initiates many DFW flights. With numerous national and international airlines, there are flights to all major cities in the U.S. There are some direct flights to Central and South American destinations as well as connecting flights to Europe and Asia.

Driving from the DFW airport to Bedford is easy. Just take the West Airport Freeway. It's only an 11 mile trip but expect about 20 minutes with traffic. There are many rent-a-car facilities at the DFW airport but be sure to reserve your car in advance. Taxis and limo services are also available.

Love Field Airport is a smaller airport served by Southwest and a few other airlines. It is an alternative to the incredibly busy DFW airport. It is 20 miles from Bedford but allow forty minutes for traffic. For the most direct route, take TX183 West. Although Love Field is smaller, it is still simple to get a taxi or arrange for a limo to pick you up.The Arlington Airport, located about 20 miles from Bedford, is the closest general aviation airport.

Bedford is located in the Texas area known as the Metroplex. It boasts the greatest number of roads of any region in the U.S. To reach Bedford by car, it is helpful to know to that Tarrant County is accessible via Interstates 20, 30, 35W, and 820. It is also served by U.S. Highways 81, 287, and 377. State highways 10, 26, 114, 183, 199 and 360 all pass through Tarrant County as well. Some roads have restrictions including HOV lanes and tolls.

Tarrant County offers some bus service. In addition, Trinity Railway Express is a commuter train that connects suburbs to both downtown Fort Worth and downtown Dallas. Dallas offers DART trains to many of its suburbs. If you are arriving by Amtrak, there is a once daily train from Chicago or Austin to the Dallas/Fort Worth Amtrak station. Amtrak trains connect Dallas/Fort Worth to San Antonio, Houston, El Paso, Phoenix, Los Angeles, and New Orleans.
