Kennesaw Information

As the site of an important Civil War battle in which more than 5,000 people died, the Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield Park offers an attraction where visitors can indulge in history, nature and outdoor activity. Inside the museum, visitors can easily spend an hour, watching the film and touring the exhibits that include Civil War weapons, artifacts and photos of the soldiers who fought at this site in 1864. For a real treat, visitors can hike up the Kennesaw Mountain amidst beautiful scenery. Once arriving at the top, visitors will be richly rewarded with gorgeous views of the surrounding area.

Smith Gilbert Gardens
The Smith Gilbert Gardens is a hidden gem covering 16 acres and featuring more than 3,000 species of flowers, trees, plants and shrubs. A delightful place to take a leisurely stroll or picnic among lovely sculptures, a Japanese waterfall and picnic tables, the gardens also offer a plant nursery that sells plants. Additionally, adults and children alike can enjoy various educational programs such as gardening, beekeeping and rock wall building.

Southern Museum of Civil War and Locomotive History
Located in a former cotton gin, the Southern Museum is a place where adults and children alike can spend an educational and fun-filled afternoon learning about Civil War history and locomotives. Visitors can be captivated by a movie that details the historical drama of the Great Locomotive Chase of 1862. After the movie, guests can see the famous locomotive, called the General, in addition to other locomotives formerly used in the area. The museum also exhibits uniforms, weapons and personal items belonging to Civil War soldiers. Children can enjoy interactive exhibits as well as the outdoor playground.

IceForum at Town Center
The IceForum is a year round facility that offers ice skating, figure skating and ice hockey. Additionally, guests can take skating classes and enjoy video games and a snack bar.

Escalade Indoor Climbing Gym
Featuring a spacious 13,000 square feet, the Escalade Indoor Climbing Gym offers adventure and exercise. Guests will enjoy the climbing walls and bouldering island, which is 2,000 feet. The facility makes classes available to inexperienced guests. Additionally, the facility occasionally offers guided, outdoor climbing excursions in the local area.
