Getting Around Plantation

Plantation's prime location is in the center of South Florida and Broward County. Nestled between three major interstates, Plantation provides access to all of South Florida's major attractions. Plantation is located 10 miles west of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, 20 miles north of Miami/Dade County and 15 minutes from Fort Lauderdale/Hollywood International Airport

The City of Plantation joined forces with Broward County Transit to encourage more people to utilize public transportation and increase the number of destinations that can be reached through public transportation. The City of Plantation's bus service, known as the Plantation Tram, is designed to work in conjunction with Broward County Transit Routes 2, 12, 18, 22, 30, 40, 56, 75 81, and 88. Plantation Tram is free of charge, but riders who make connections to Broward County Transit routes are expected to pay the associated fares. The buses are air-conditioned and wheelchair accessible. Just a few of the 29 established stops are: Plantation City Hall, Jacaranda Plaza, Publix Towne Mall, Jim Ward Community Center, Broward Mall, and Fashion Mall. In addition to regular City-wide service, Plantation Tram has provided valuable shuttle service to a number of City events, including Early In-House Absentee Voting at the West Regional Courthouse, Flu shots provided free to citizens 55 and older by Westside Regional Medical Center, and the past several Art in the Park events.

The City of Plantation and the Plantation Midtown Advisory Board are pleased and excited to announce the launch of the Plantation Midtown Trolley, an air-conditioned transit vehicle that will safely and conveniently transport Midtown visitors, shoppers and employees in and around the District - for free! The trolley design evokes a feeling of nostalgia, with its old world charm and detailing, but at the same time, helps launch Plantation into the 21st Century, by providing a modern, progressive alternative to utilizing vehicular traffic.
