Welcome to San Ramon

San Ramon is a suburban city that is located in the mid-western region of California. It is home to over 74,000 people. The current mayor of the city is Abe Wilson. The headquarters of 24 hour Fitness and the Chevron Corporation as well as the west coast headquarters of A t and T are located in San Ramon.

In 2001, San Ramon received the Tree City USA title. This title is given by the National Arbor Day Foundation. In order to qualify, a city must be active in the effort to preserve trees.

San Ramon has what is classified as a Mediterranean climate. Just like most other parts of California, the temperature does not change much throughout the year. The average high in the winter is 58 degrees Fahrenheit, and the average high in the summer is around 75 degrees Fahrenheit. The record high for the summer was 116 degrees Fahrenheit , and the record low was 18 degrees Fahrenheit. Snow is an extremely rare occurrence is this city.

San Ramon is home to California High School, which was established in 1973. It has been named the 250th best high school in the United States by Newsweek. University of San Francisco-San Ramon Campus and Diablo Valley College-San Ramon Branch Campus are two of the higher education institutions in this city.

San Ramon also features a number of attractions, including Memorial Park. The park was built to commemorate Tom Burnet. Burnet was a San Ramon resident who was killed during the September 11 attacks. Memorial Park also honors the other victims who were killed. The park was built one year after the attacks occurred. Crow Canyon Gardens, Old Ranch Park and San Ramon Central Park are other points of interest in this city.

City officials are always planning ways to make San Ramon greater. Currently, there are planning on adding new features to the downtown area. The new downtown will feature a hotel, independent cinema, library, transit center and an office space. Even though officials have been forced to postpone these renovations due to the economy, the project has been approved and will commence as soon as the economic situation begins to improve.
