Getting Around Savannah

Savannah Hilton Head International Airport, just off I-16, is about 20 minutes from downtown, and operates daily flights from the following airlines: AirTran, Continental Express, Delta, Independence Air, Northwest, United, US Airways. Chatham Area Transit ( CAT ) (912) 233-5767 provides a daily bus route to and from the airport servicing many locations in Savannah. B & B Shuttle (912) 964-1411 offers point-to-point transportation to and from the airport to the Savannah area.

For Savannah travel by train, Amtrak stops in Savannah on its Atlantic Coast Service between New York and Miami. The train station is located at 2611 Seaboard Coastline Dr., about 4 miles southwest of downtown.

If your Savannah travel plans include driving your own car, you'll find that Savannah is only a two-hour drive from Jacksonville, Florida, four hours from Charlotte, North Carolina, four hours from Atlanta, Georgia and two hours from Charleston, South Carolina. From the north or south, I-95 passes 10 miles west of Savannah, with several exits to the city, and U.S. 17 runs through the city. From the west, I-16 ends in downtown Savannah, and U.S. 80 also runs through the city from east to west.

Prefer to leave the driving to someone else? Catch a Greyhound! The Greyhound bus station is located at 610 Oglethorpe Avenue, and open 24 hours everyday.

Chatham area transit has bus services and a free trolleybus around the historic district.
