Somerset, New Jersey is found in the eastern part of Franklin Township in the county of Somerset. The city is home to about 23,000 people. Somerset is an easily accessible location and contains many attractions that visitors will enjoy.

One of the most notable things in Somerset is Marconi Station. The station is the first wireless station in the United States. It was built in 1913 and during World War I it was used to transmit communication across the Atlantic Ocean. Some of the original station and materials that were deteriorated have been restored.

Somerset boasts impressive golf courses, including Quail Brooks Golf Course, Spooky Brook Golf Course and Tara Greens Golf Course. Both courses are excellent places for fun golf outings. Somerset is also home to a state park. Delaware and Raritan Canal State Park contains trails that offer a remote and peaceful escape from the city and is a great place for a hike or a picnic. Another interesting outing in Somerset is the Toppan Graphic Arts Center. The Center contains an interesting museum featuring an array of art.

History buffs will enjoy the rich colonial and Revolutionary War history that can be viewed around Somerset county. Visitors can find many of the major notable history points on county maps. One great place to experience some history is Morristown National Historic Park.

Transportation is very convenient and affordable as Somerset. The county is served by New Jersey bus and rail lines. Service to Newark and New York City's Penn Station is readily available. The county also has shuttle bus service options. There are three regional airports located throughout Somerset County, the Central Jersey Regional Airport, the Princeton Airport and the Somerset Airport.

Somerset hosts several different annual events that may be of interest to tourists. One of these events is the Tour of Somerset which is a yearly bicycle race. County residents and tourists are all welcome to participate or watch the race. Another Somerset event is the area's local 4-H fair.
