Tucson Dining
As you can guess, Tucson is a veritable hub of Southwestern and Mexican cuisine. But Tucson is an adventurous town (easily the most liberal metropolitan area in Arizona) and as a result of it's diversity, has a vibrant culinary culture. Stroll through Tucson and you'll encounter the delightful smells of mesquite-fired grills, the distinctive sizzle of fajitas and brightly decorated restaurants with piles of tortillas and multicolored salsas.
Some of the best food experiences are to be found in one of the following places:
Cafe Poca Cosa 110 E. Pennington St, Tucson, AZ 85701 +1 520 622 6400 fé Poca Cosa has moved to a somewhat spectacular new location on E. Pennington in downtown Tucson. Gone is the explosion of colorful folk art everywhere. In its place is a sweeping, stylish dining room with objects of Mexican art on display as if in a museum. It's a cooler environment than before, perhaps not as hospitable-seeming as it once was. But the black-clad staff was nothing if not polite and solicitous; and more important, the food is on the same level of excellence that first put this place on the map of great southwest restaurants.
El Molinito 3675 W Ina Rd, Tucson, AZ 85741 +1 520 744-1188 A Local Favorite! Great Mexican food at a great price. Has been in Tucson for at least 20 years and has great service! Known for their amazing frozen margaritas. Try their beans and carne asada tacos on a soft flour tortilla!
Char Thai 5039 E 5th St, Tucson AZ +1 520 795-1715 It's not always easy to find good Asian restaurants in the desert, but this hole in the wall has to be near the top of anyone's list of favorites. Owned and operated by former residents of Bangkok, the restaurant has a huge selection of tasty curries and noodle dishes. The lunch specials are a great value.
